Fine-Tuning Our Communication Skills

We hope you had a wonderful summer! Fall is a time of new beginnings and harvesting the benefit of the year too! For those of you new to LAPBC volunteering, we see your role as participating in trainings, connecting with each other and with us as vital to the health of LAPBC. We also invite you to participate in LAP workshops and groups that work for you. Your participation, enthusiasm and skills will encourage other participants.

We welcome Fall by offering you a two-part interactive virtual training called Fine-Tuning Our Communication Skills specifically designed for volunteers!

We will hold two 1.5 hour sessions on October 20th and November 17th at 5:00 - 6:30 pm by zoom. Each program qualifies for 1.5 CPD credits. Please join us for a chance to visit with each other as we embark on skill-building together.

October 20th- 5:00 – 6:30 pm
Fine-tuning Self-Awareness and Compassion for Better Connections. This workshop will be facilitated by Shari R. Pearlman, LCSW, JD, LAPBC Assistant Director/Lawyer Counsellor and Shelina Neallani, RSW, LLB, LAPBC Lawyer Counsellor. Participants will focus on how they present themselves to others and how to effectively express self-compassion and compassion for others to better form trusting relationships.

November 17th – 5:00 – 6:30 pm
Fine Tuning Communication and Connection with Better Listening Skills, Dialogue and Healthy Boundaries. This workshop will be facilitated by Derek LaCroix, KC, LAPBC Executive Director and Shari R. Pearlman, LCSW, JD LAPBC Assistant Director/Lawyer Counsellor. Participants will build listening skills and effective uses of empathy and appropriate self-disclosure to foster healthy connections.
